Sleek & Chic Dog Grooming - Terms & Conditions

Client grooming agreement & policies:

Cancellations & missed appointments:

Sleek & Chic Dog Grooming reserves the right to charge a £20 non-refundable deposit before the next booking to secure your appointment; for any missed appointments or appointments that are cancelled with less than 48-hour notice. If you have cancelled within the 48-hour notice or no-showed 3 times, then you’ll either have to pay the full amount upfront or may even be taken off our books. Appointments missed or cancelled without notice could have been offered to another customer that day and if we do not have any notice, we are unable to fill that appointment slot, meaning our groomers don't get paid. We do understand that on occasions things need to be changed (and under certain circumstances the charge may not apply.) but please be courteous to us and others and give us as much notice as possible.

Your appointment is reserved for your dog. If you are running late, please call us and let us know. Your appointment time slot will be held for a maximum of 15 minutes. If you arrive later than 15 minutes after your scheduled appointment time it is considered as late, we may have to reschedule the appointment. If this happens 3 times, then you will be charged a nonrefundable deposit of £20 on your next booking. Please understand that when you are late it affects our ability to provide timely and quality service for all our other clients that day. We are also happy to take in dogs up to 15 minutes early providing we have the space.

Sleek & Chic has limited space; we are unable to keep dogs for an extended amount of time if you are running late. We do not offer daycare facilities and unfortunately if you do not collect within the certain time frame then it can affect the service and appointments for the rest of the day. Dogs also need to be collected within 30 minutes of us calling you to let you know your dog is ready. If you do not collect within 1 hour you will be charged £10 on collection.

Sleek & Chic Dog Grooming reserves the right to request a non-refundable deposit for any booking made. For new clients, a £20 non-refundable deposit will be payable before a slot can be secured. (This deposit will be taken off the groom total on the day) If a deposit is paid to secure a slot and you wish to change this to another slot (providing it is outside the 48 hours) the deposit can be transferred. Deposits are usually for new clients unless stated otherwise above.

Please note deposits are non-refundable, if you choose to cancel future slots, or Sleek & Chic are unable to continue grooming your pet due to it being unsuitable for your pet due to stress, age, aggression or safety for your pet or myself, the deposit is non-refundable.

Dogs with matted coats need extra attention. Matted fur pulls and binds, causing pain to your dog when they move or lay on the mats. The skin underneath maybe raw and inflamed. Matted coats will not dry properly which can also lead to skin infections. Sleek & Chic Dog Grooming will not cause serious or undue stress to your pet by de-matting. Under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, it is an offence to cause unnecessary suffering or harm to an animal: - this includes prolonged ‘de-matting’ which is painful and detrimental to the welfare of the dog. We will spend a maximum of 15 minutes de-matting, past that time we have no choice but to clip matts out. Prevention is the best defence against matting by scheduling regular grooming appointments. For most breeds it's a 6-8 weekly basis, but the groomer will be able to tell you how regular your dog will need to be. If your pet needs to be shaved to remove matting, you will be given a consent form to sign to acknowledge that you agree to this procedure and any risk involved. Matting does come with charges, depending on the matting as to whether it's a complete clip off or just some matting removed and how long it takes. The matting charge will cover any extra time and for us to maintain our tools as matted coats blunts and sometimes breaks them. Matting charges start from £5 and can be an up to £30+ (usually on extremely felted coats).

Nail clipping, the checking and emptying of anal glands and removal of ear hair via plucking is complimentary to a groom. Whilst we do our best to ensure these get done, sometimes it isn’t possible due to the dog becoming very stressed, aggressive and sometimes may be something a vet needs to do due to the extremity of said procedure. Sleek & Chic Dog Grooming will always attempt the nails, but we ask on drop of if you’d like your dog's anal glands or ears done please request them or they will not be done. Outside of grooming appointments we can offer bookings and take walk ins for nail clipping, anal gland checking/expressing and ear hair plucking for £10 each.

Sleek & Chic Dog Grooming will use, unless otherwise instructed, any videos or photographs of your dog/s taken whilst at the salon. You allow, unless otherwise instructed, Sleek & Chic Dog Grooming to use your dog/s name/s and that any images or videos can be used at any time for marketing, advertising or promotional purposes in any form or format. Please let Sleek & Chic Dog Grooming know if you do not consent to the use of any images or videos of your pet/s.

Sleek & Chic Dog Grooming has the right to refuse service for any reason we deem necessary, if we do not feel we can safely groom your dog without causing a danger to itself, the groomer or others. We also will not tolerate any abusive or violent behaviour from customers towards our groomers, and any such behaviour will result in an instant refusal and ban of service. Sleek & Chic Dog Grooming will use sometimes use muzzles if necessary to ensure your pet does not cause injury to itself or the groomer. Grooming may be stopped mid groom if we feel there is danger to your pet or our groomer, grooming fees may still apply.

It is your sole responsibility to ensure your pet is fit for grooming and to inform Sleek & Chic Dog Grooming of any health issues your dog/s has before the groom commences. Ensure your dog/s, especially your elderly dogs and any dogs with health issues are checked prior to bringing to the salon. We can refuse to groom if we feel this will not be in the interest of your dog/s health to carry a groom out. Grooming procedures can sometimes be stressful, especially for a senior dog or a dog with health problems and can expose hidden medical problems or aggravate a

current one during or after the groom. In the best interest of your pet this agreement will give Sleek & Chic Dog Grooming permission to obtain immediate Veterinary treatment for your pet should it be deemed necessary by us (this would be extremely rare for this to happen). We will do our best to contact you first, then take your pet to our authorised Veterinarian. It is agreed that all expenses for Veterinary care will be covered by the pet’s owner unless caused by Sleek & Chic Dog Grooming at the time of the groom and not after.

It is your sole responsibility to inform Sleek & Chic Dog Grooming of any known behavioural problems your dogs have when booking them in, including but not limited to, aggression towards people, if they have ever bitten anyone and how they react to other Dogs. Please be open and honest with us, we understand not all dogs like the groomers and they all come from different backgrounds, but if we are aware of any behavioural issues, we can put things in place to limit stress for them during their groom and put the proper precautionary measures in place to limit the possibility of injury to themselves or the groomer. If your dog should badly bite, scratch or injure the groomer, due to not informing us of any behavioural issues, the owner agrees to be responsible for some if not, all related recovery costs, loss of income and equipment damage. There will be an extra charge which will reflect on the total price of your dog's groom due to any aggression/bad behaviour as we will need more time to complete your dog's groom and ensure it gets done safely for sake of both the dog and groomer.

When grooming, there is always the possibility an accident could occur. Grooming equipment is very sharp, please be assured we use extreme caution and care in all situations here at Sleek & Chic Dog Grooming, but sometimes accidents do happen. Possible problems that could occur include cuts, nicks, scratches and quicking of the nails. In most cases this can happen when a dog is wiggling, moving around or displaying aggression (it is not limited to this). We make every effort to ensure your dog is groomed as safely as possible, but if your pet does not accept the process, it can be dangerous to continue the groom, and we reserve the right to stop the groom if it is unsafe for your dog. Sleek & Chic Dog Grooming uses Leucillin spray which is the most powerful, non-toxic, non-irritant antiseptic available for animals and we also use Trimmex powder to clot blood on any accidental quick cuts on the nails.

By using our services, owners verify that your dog/s have had their first 2-3 vaccinations. We ask that if your dog isn't up to date to with their vaccinations and they get poorly or an illness due to not being up to date then please let us know (appointments may be cancelled due to certain illnesses). Please be mindful that diseases caused from not vaccinating can be extremely contagious to other pets and in some cases can kill. Sleek & Chic Dog Grooming wants to provide the safest possible environment for your pet to be groomed in, so please ensure you do not put others at risk. We are happy to take puppies on a week after their 2nd vaccination.

Sleek & Chic Dog Grooming strives to be a flea-free salon. If your dog has lots of fleas, the grooming session may be ceased at any point and rescheduled once the flea problem is under control. We recommend that you contact your veterinarian for advice on the best treatment for your situation. A topical monthly flea preventative may be

the most effective choice. Treating all pets in the family, as well as treating your home will help in keeping fleas under control for the long term. If one or two fleas are found on your dog we will bathe your dog in a flea shampoo. We also have to treat the salon regardless of if it's just 1 or 20 fleas; this will incur a £10-£15 charge onto your grooming total (even if the groom isn’t completed it will still be charged on top of the full groom price) as any appointments after will need to be cancelled until the fleas are gone. If we find a tick on a dog mid groom, we may ask you to have the tick removed at the vets before continuing to finish the groom, this means you may have to come back a different day to have the groom finished. We will not remove ticks, we advise the vet removes it, so the whole tick is removed safely.

Please note that Sleek & Chic Dog Grooming have the right to charge extra on top of the grooming total or change the grooming amount to reflect the reasons why. These may include matting, fleas, overdue grooming, overall condition of coat, dogs with thick coats, aggression, difficulty to groom, dogs that needs extra handling (possibly age related) and dogs that need 2 groomers. You will be made aware if your dog/s are going to have extra charges.

Sleek & Chic Dog Grooming refuse to groom a pregnant dog. To us this is a massive risk for everyone. It can cause a lot of stress to the mother and to the unborn puppies. For everyone's best interests it's just something we are not willing to risk.

Unfortunately, Sleek & Chic Dog Grooming cannot have dog owners wait in the salon with their dogs whilst they are groomed. Due to our insurance, we are not covered if anything was to happen.

Sleek & Chic Dog Grooming take all complaints very seriously. If you’re not happy with your dog's groom, please let us know within 48 hours afterwards so we can rectify what parts of the groom you’re not happy with. If you contact us after 48 hours regarding not being happy with the groom, we won’t be at liberty to rectify the groom. For complaints of any sort please ask to speak to owner of Sleek & Chic Dog Grooming ‘Katelyn’ to discuss and or resolve any issues.
